Diogo Alexandre
“Diogo Alexandre is already one of the best national drummers” as João Esteves Da Silva wrote in jazz.pt, 2019. Born in September 1998, he is especially known for his distinct, bold drumming style, having been awarded with various national prizes (Portugal) and gather the critics attention:

Recently released his debut record PIPE TREE by Diogo Alexandre Bock Ensemble which was considered one of the best Portuguese Jazz records of 2021 by Jazz.pt - "Pipe Tree is a rare record in the Portuguese jazz scene for being both different and ambitious, seeking - and succeeding - to trace its own path" - Gonçalo Falcão (2022, jazz.pt)
After moving to Lisbon to study jazz at university in 2016, he began to perform on a regular basis, gaining valuable musical and life experience. By the age of 21, he had already performed alongside artists such as Django Batea, João Barradas, Bram de looze, Ohad Talmor, Amir El Safar, Fabrizio Cassol (diretor), Ben Van Gelder, Frederico Heliodoro, João Mortágua, Pedro Moreira, João Paulo Esteves da Silva, José Pedro Coelho, Demian Cabaud, André Fernandes.
He finished his Jazz Bachelor with maximum grade (20 out of 20) and has won various national music prizes, including “Revelation Musician of the year” 2020 RTP, “Revelation musician of 2020 by JazzLogical.pt plus “Prémio Jovens Músicos” 2019 RTP, Antena 2” (Young Musicians Award 2019) which is the one of the biggest Portuguese competitions for jazz and classical musicians up to 26 years old.
He as recorded as sideman several albuns such as Javier Subatin “Autotelic” (2018) and “Variaciones” (2019), Desidério Lázaro “Homegrown” (2019), Gonçalo Sousa “Nova Construção” (2019), Zé Cruz “USSEGUNDU” (2019) and Samuel Gapp “Trio with Strings quartet” (2019, Bernardo Sassetti’s composition prize winner), Ricardo Pinheiro and Miguel Amado “LAB”(2020), Javier Subatin “Trance trio” (2020). Also, he has performed at several international Festivals such has Copenhagen Jazz, Cortona Jazz Fest (Italy), Sudtirol Jazz Fest (Italy) and Festival d’Aix en Provence (South France).
He was invited for three consecutive times to perform as part of an intercultural ensemble led by Fabrizio Cassol with musicians from all around the Mediterranean Basin, that took place in Malta and France.
Currently living in Brussels after finishing his drums degree with maximum grade (20/20), he is preparing an improvised music record with João Mortágua; and continues to work on a regular basis with various artists from the international jazz scene, such as Casimir Liberski new project's. Alexandre is 24 years old and his career looks set to have a very exciting future
