TAC is a collective trio featuring André Carvalho, Bernardo Tinoco, and Diogo Alexandre, which fuses acoustic and electronic music, exploring new sonic realms. Through an artistic residency in Musibéria (Serpa), TAC crafted "Monte dos Marmeleiros," blending folk with avant-garde, acoustic instruments, and electronics. The debut album is finally out on Robalo Records with the support of Antena2.

“Untranslatable words, an inexhaustible source of inspiration that embodies the sequel to my trio’s first album”. This is how bassist and composer André Carvalho defines his new album “Lost in Translation - Vol. II”.

Carvalho is joined by the usual members of his trio: José Soares (saxophone) and André Matos (guitar) on the second single of “Lost in Translation - Vol. II”. Of German origin, “Waldeinsamekeit” is an untranslatable word that means “the feeling of being alone in the woods.”.

Of Hausa origin, a language spoken in the heart of Africa, “Tagumi” is an untranslatable word that means “to rest the head on one hand or knee in an act of reflection or introspection or simply resting.

Inspired by untranslatable words, “Lost in Translation” is my forth album as leader, released by the American label Outside in Music in October 2021. Recorded in December 2020, it features José Soares (saxophone) and André Matos (guitar) and was supported by GDA Foundation, Antena2, Companhia de Actores and Teatro Municipal Amélia Rey Colaço. As a special guest, João Almeida (trumpet), joins the trio on 3 compositions.

The cycle of music includes compositions inspired by more than 10 languages from all over the world, including Tulu, Urdu, Sanskrit and Wagiman (only spoken by 2 people in the world!).

Praised by the media as “a sonic study in contrasts” (NYJazzRecords), André’s Grammy considered album The Garden of Earthly Delights was recently released on Outside in Music. The 11 movement suite, performed by a 6 person combo, is named after its inspiration, the cryptic painting by medieval Flemish painter Hieronymus Bosch.

Carvalho’s second album was supported by the GDA Foundation and features Jorge Reis (soprano and alto saxophone), Zé Maria (tenor saxophone), Bruno Santos (guitar), Jeffery Davis (vibraphone), Óscar Graça (piano), André Carvalho (double bass), João Rijo (drums), André Santos (guitar) and Ricardo Toscano (alto saxophone).
