Praised by the media as “a sonic study in contrasts” (NYJazzRecords), André’s Grammy considered album The Garden of Earthly Delights was recently released on Outside in Music. The 11 movement suite, performed by a 6 person combo, is named after its inspiration, the cryptic painting by medieval Flemish painter Hieronymus Bosch.

Inspired by the amazing and enigmatic universe of Hieronymus Bosch, particularly one of his most famous paintings – “The Garden of Earthly Delights” – Delights”, André wrote a Suite that serves as an invitation for a journey.

Shifting between softness and harshness, simplicity and complexity, harmony and conflict, the music flows between landscapes inspired by the triptych.
As to the genesis of the work, André said: “I always wanted to write a larger piece, with several movements, connected by a common concept. By mere chance, when revisiting Bosch’s works, I was urged to express his singularity through music.“

Featuring Jeremy Powell (soprano and tenor saxophone and flute), Eitan Gofman (tenor saxophone, bass clarinet and flute), Oskar Stenmark (trumpet and fluegelhorn), André Matos (guitar) and Rodrigo Recabarren (drums).

Released in May 2019 on Outside in Music. Recorded at The Bunker Studio in April 2018. Mixed by Pete Rende and mastered by Nate Wood. Artwork by Margarida Girão.
